Microsoft has recently revealed its plans to increase the Xbox Series X console prices and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. These adjustments aim to align with competitive conditions in various markets and ensure continued growth and innovation in the gaming industry.

Xbox Series X Console Prices Set to Rise

Starting in August, the Xbox Series X console’s price will increase in most countries, except the United States, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia.

This decision reflects Microsoft’s strategy to adapt to market conditions while providing exceptional gaming experiences. The updated pricing will go into effect on August 1.

Xbox Game Pass Subscription Price Changes

In a similar vein, Xbox Game Pass subscription prices will also undergo adjustments. As of July, most markets will experience an increase in Game Pass prices, except for Norway, Chile, Denmark, Switzerland, and Saudi Arabia.

These changes are designed to maintain a balance between value and the evolving gaming landscape.

According to reports from The Verge, the Xbox Series X will be priced at £479.99 in the UK, €549.99 across most European markets, $649.99 in Canada, and $799.99 in Australia, starting from August 1.

However, it’s worth noting that the price of the Xbox Series S will remain unchanged in all markets.

As for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, starting from July 6, the monthly price for console users will increase from $9.99 to $10.99 (£7.99 to £8.99 / €9.99 to €10.99).

Similarly, the price for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will rise from $14.99 to $16.99 per month (£10.99 to £12.99 / €12.99 to €14.99). PC Game Pass pricing will remain unaffected by these changes.

Reflecting Industry Trends

This decision follows a similar move made by Sony last August when they increased the price of the PS5 in several countries by up to 12.5%.

Microsoft’s updated Xbox Series X pricing will now be in line with that of the PS5 in the UK, Europe, Canada, and Australia, enabling fair competition and a balanced market.

In addition to these pricing adjustments, Microsoft had previously raised the prices of its first-party games earlier this year, shifting from $60 to $70.

This change came into effect with the release of May’s highly anticipated title, Redfall. These adjustments demonstrate Microsoft’s commitment to providing high-quality gaming experiences while ensuring sustainable growth within the industry.

In conclusion, Microsoft’s decision to increase the price of the Xbox Series X console and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions reflects its dedication to adapting to market conditions and maintaining competitive offerings.

These changes will enable the company to continue delivering exceptional gaming experiences while fueling innovation and growth within the gaming community.
